Auditions

Those wishing to audition should contact Regina Ford at (520) 429-5364 to discuss a method and time to audition.

The Usual Format:
Each audition is 5 minutes long. The audition schedule will be on 10-minute intervals to accommodate time for a few informal questions from the board and for board discussion between auditions.

Guidelines:
These are merely guidelines. The board may determine exceptions to the guidelines as it deems best for the good of the showcase.

  • Audition material should be chosen from the material and the format that the artist is proposing for the show.
  • In general, no person or performing group will appear in more than one showcase per season.
  • Pre-recorded or electronic accompaniment is not acceptable. Musicians must produce all music live for the audition and the show.
  • Dancers, jugglers, and magicians may use pre-recorded music.
  • It is advisable for audition material to avoid subjects that might be controversial, such as religion or politics. A notable exception would be for material that is more historical in perspective, for example spirituals, country gospel, or African American gospel.
  • Artists may submit audio or video for an audition. The recorded material should be of the artist or group that is being proposed for the show and include the material that will be performed in the show.
